WMCC is planning another bus trip to Chicago to attend the Chevy Vettefest car show. We still have several seats available on our chartered bus, so we're opening up an invitation to everyone here on MiFbody to join us for a great day of fun and enjoyment in Chicago.
The date for the trip is Saturday, November 17th. The cost is $27 per person and this fee includes your entry ticket into the show as well as your round trip bus ride to the show and back.
We did this trip last year and had a fantastic time. There is no way you can drive to Chicago and attend this great show for anywhere this price.
Here are some details:
2nd Annual Bus Trip to Chevy Vettefest in Chicago:
We have already made a deposit and locked-in a bus charter for Saturday, November 17th. Like last year, we will be leaving from the Maple Hill Mall in Kalamazoo. The bus will be there at 7:45am with a departure time for Chicago of 8:00am.
We have reserved a larger (56 passenger) bus this year, since we filled the smaller one last year. The cost per person will be $27 each (or $54 per couple). This will include your entry ticket to Chevy-Vettefest.
Shelley Crippin will be taking the payments, and compiling the passenger list. Please make your checks payable to WMCC. She will not accept any money or checks on the day of the bus trip, so this needs to be paid before then. You may call or e-mail her to make arrangements, but you will not be added to the passenger list until she gets your payment. These seats will be on a first-come, first-reserved basis, so it is advisable to make your reservations early to assure your place on the bus. Shelley: 269-273-5051(Home) 269-506-0901(Cell) or scrippin@voyager.net e-mail.
Everyone that went last year had a great time. Taking a bus to Chicago is definitely the best way to go to Chevy-Vettefest. You don't have to deal with the traffic, tolls or parking. The bus drops us off at the door to the convention center, and picks us up at the door. This makes for a fun and enjoyable, stress free day at a great car show. I doubt you could drive your own car to Chicago any cheaper.
There are already some very significant historical Chevrolets lined up to be at the show that you won't want to miss. For more info on the show: http://www.chevyvettefest.net/ I know I'm looking forward to going again!
Here is another e-mail update on the activities and features for the show:
Time for a Chevy Vettefest Update!
I don’t know if I could be more excited about the latest developments for our upcoming Chevy Vettefest show November 17-18, 2007.
As you probably already know, we are returning to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont (Greater Chicago) Illinois. We are working closely with this premier facility to make the show better than ever. A newly revised floorplan along with a streamlined move-in plan is in place, so rest assured, we are all committed to making this one the best Chevy Vettefest yet!
You may have noticed the subject line; New Owners/More Features/New Look! Well let me tell you a bit about this. We are Championship Auto Shows, Inc. and we purchased the shows about two years ago. We knew we had the foundation of a great show. With the prestigious Triple Crown award, a fine Judging staff, a long list of loyal venders, a crew that was committed to continuing with the show and a whole lot of Chevy Enthusiasts, we have all the makings of a fantastic event.
Sooo…..what is new at Chevy Vettefest? Let’s start with the Triple Crown Gallery which was launched at our last Rosemont show. You’ll see more than FIFTY of the countries best restored and original Corvettes. Each of these entries have already achieved Bloomington Gold and NCRS Top Flight status, so you know they are the best! Entries received already range from 1954 to 1985, a virtual history of the Corvette and yes…they will be set up in chronological order.
We are proud to announce we are joining forces with The Inflammatory Breast Cancer Advocacy and Awareness Foundation www.ibcarf.com and Glassworks to present a Silent Auction to benefit this great cause. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the foundation and we will have a special guest to help us spread the word; Duane Mayer of American Hot Rod will be on hand to meet fans and sign autographs! Learn about IBC, get some Christmas shopping done and help out a worthwhile charity! If you have any merchandise you would like to donate to our Silent Auction, please let me know. bashton@autorama.com
Speaking of Christmas shopping, we are honored to have FOUR prominent authors joining us at Chevy Vettefest. Mike Yager, Chief Cheerleader of Mid America Motorworks will be signing his new book, The Corvette Bible. His co-author, John Gunnell will also be joining us. Colin Comer, premier Musclecar collector and owner of Colin’s Classics in Milwaukee will be signing his new book, Million Dollar Musclecars and Jerry Heasley will be signing his newly released book, Corvette Masterpieces. Pick these great books up for yourself and for some friends on your Christmas list!
We are also happy to announce our newest Featured Artist, Thom SanSoucie will be joining us all the way from New Hampshire. Thom will be premiering a new Limited Edition Chevy print and showing a wide variety of beautiful prints. Thom’s work is in collections worldwide and you will want to expand your own automotive art collection and make someone on that Christmas list happy! www.americanautoart.com
If racing is what lights your fire, the beautiful new Top Fuel Dragster owned and driven by Klaus Zimmer will put a smile on your face! Klaus is on the brink of breaking into the big league and this is your chance to meet him in person and check out his rail. If you prefer your racers with fenders and a pair of HUGE turbo’s, then help us welcome back Chicago Legend Spiro Pappas who will be showing his brand new Twin Turbocharged 69 Camaro. YEP…Mr. Pappas is coming out of retirement! This may be the only chance you’ll get to see these guys sitting still! If you like your race cars a little more affordable, you’ll LOVE the TEN cars that will be presented by the ARS Productions gang. This is another first for Chevy Vettefest and the ARS crew has promised an exciting display.
Speaking of displays, we have received Club Applications from SIX clubs already. Look for some neat stuff…the club display competition is heating up! If your club is planning on joining us, PLEASE SEND YOUR APPLICATIONS NOW! Last year we had to send back over 60 entries and we hate doing it, but we are filling up fast! Even with the additional 27,500 square feet, we will still have more entries then we can handle. In fact, send yours in asap whether you are with a club or a single entry!
I am happy to announce we have a BIG increase in swap meet and commercial entries! Thanks to all of our loyal regulars and to those of you who have decided to come back or join us for the first time, a hearty THANKS to you too! For anyone interested in joining us for the first time, please do! If you are thinking about raising some Christmas cash by selling those old parts or are a National Vendor WE WANT YOU to join us. Our spectators are indeed buyers and we are committed to building up our swap section! Call ASAP to register and reserve your space! (248) 373-1700 ext. 248. If you can’t find it here, you just aren’t looking hard enough!
Title Sponsor Nickey Chicago recently moved into a brand spankin’ new 16,000 square foot facility, but they aren’t sitting still! Look for the launch of the very special Nickey/Bill Thomas 1965 Continuation Series Cheetah, Don Swiatek Edition at the show and the new Nickey Chicago “Instant Funny Car” Kit. You gotta see this stuff in person and YES, the Original behind the Original Nickey, Don Swiatek himself, will be at the show along with other Nickey dignitaries. Check out their fine collection of rare and desirable Musclecars and expand your fleet!
And then there are the cars. Here are a few teasers for you; 1969 L88 coming out of long term hibernation (over 30 years!), the REAL Yenko/Bushell 63 Daytona raced Corvette Coupe, a 4,500 original mile 67 Impala SS 427, several ultra low mileage unrestored L78 Nova’s, several Yenko Camaro’s including one so fresh, that in the pictures he sent me, the car was only 70% assembled, a 1 of 99 built Yenko 427 Chevelle, a REAL ZL1 Camaro coming in with the Original Owner, EIGHT Z16 Chevelles including several with the original owner and several unrestored originals, a 65 Malibu right off the pages of the new Primedia Chevelle magazine and Popular Hot Rodding, several freshly restored LS6 Chevelles along with a fully restored chassis ready for the body and well…way too many more to list, so I’ll save some for the next e-mail update. Check out our website galleries for some pictures of these beauties and a whole lot more!
Our new and expanded Car Show Guide is finished and will be mailed out next week, so if you aren’t on our “regular” mail list, send me an e-mail with your address. Our website will be updated every Friday night and we have added a WEEKLY FREE TICKET DRAWING so be sure to keep an eye on the site for our updates! www.chevyvettefest.net
Well that’s enough for now. I am headed out to the big Mecum Auction in St. Charles this weekend. This is a fantastic event for anyone looking to buy a fine collectible car or for anyone who just likes to SEE some of the best Musclecars in the world. Check out their site to see what will be crossing the block. www.mecum.com and we’ll see you there! (Be sure to introduce yourself or grab me when you see me)
