  • Camaro Jacked Up

All right so I was about to do an oil change on my car today. When I went under the vehicle to drain the oil I saw that the original owner who did an 74 350 engine swap must have been smoking crack because the oil dipstick in screwed into where the drain plug is supposed to be. The fitting also has lock tight on it. Needless to say I AM PISSED OFF. And because the dipstick is in the wrong place it doesn't read right. So I have no idea how much oil is in the car. I have to pull the motor to change the oil pan. I am planning on putting the camaro in storage over the winter and hopefully do some major work. Here is a list of what I plan on doing this winter:\

    New Oil Pan
    New Oil Dipstick
    Front Calipers and Pads
    Hi-Perf Rotors
    New Drums
New Brake Shoes and Wheel Cylinders
    New Rear Drum Brake Parts
    New Wheel Bearings
    New Radiator 4 Core
    New Radiator Hoses
    New Hi-Perf Water Pump
    New Thermostat
New Power Steering Hoses and Belt
    New Front Coil Springs
    New Rear Coil Springs
    New Ball Joints
    New Sway Bar Links
    New Strut Bearing Plates
    New Strut Mounts
    New Front Struts
    New Rear Shocks
New Inner and Outer Tie Rods
    New Tie Rod Sleeves
    New Center Link
    New Idler Arm
    New Pitman Arm
    New Fuel Pump
    New Fuel Pump Sending Unit
    New Rear Main Seal
    New Intake Gaskets
    New Exhaust Manifolds

Hopefully I can get this all done this winter. Any help would be great.

        Here are the Pictures

All the parts I listed add up to about $2400.00. I have the money but I will be doing this over time. Here are the attached pictures of my camaro. Next to the oil filter is where the drain plug is supposed to be, but as you can see there is a fitting with a tube going to the top of the engine. That is my oil dipstick.

Nothing as far as I can tell. The hole is there a little farther above where the oil filter is. I am assuming it has been plugged up.

                        Hey Jake,

It's nice to see you found "us" over here at MiFbody. I have never seen anyone do that to an oil pan! Wow!

Rear disc brakes on IROC-Z's were optional, not standard, so most have rear drums.
RIP Doug,You will always be remembered

                              Yeah, Good Question!

So do you think the oil was ever changed after this "modification". I wonder if maybe the owner had some type of pump that would pull the old oil out through this tube?? That might actually be a cool way to change the oil.
