After I was done, I decided to apply some rubbing compound just to see how my sanding job has been going and here is what I saw!

I have some more news to update the project with but first a bit of a history lesson first.
I painted my car back in Christmas of 06, after that I did not have patience to wet sand and polish (which would have been the smart thing to do) so I set on my way and reassembled the car as you have seen. I decided to wait to wet sand and polish till I get closer to being complete as I know the inevitable scratch or two would happen while assembling.

Fast forward to 4/12/08: This weekend was the start to a long and tedious step in the restoration. I received three books of sandpaper each book consisting of 1500,2000,2500 and proceeded to wetsand this weekend. I found that it was going to take a lot longer than I thought 6hours, yes 6! I had the roof done!! Not even compounded an polished? Wow, this is going to be a long weekend. By the time I was done today sunday night, I had the roof and the back of the car wetsanded. Here are some pics.

WMCC James: I agree, my wife is not crazy about the rubber boot either, she want's the leather. I think I will have to make one or find a leather boot to replace it.

pacefabricating: The seats are Scat Procar Rally 1000

Doug: I think Mackinaw city would be awesome, I would be able to drive without taking the ferry which would not force us to leave @ 6am on Sunday!! BUT, we have a lot planned this year with very little vacation, we'll see what we can do!

I agree Ray! Would be great to see Derek and Vickey with us again in the fall.

But, one thing you missed at the last Club meeting ......... we're talking about shifting the Fall Color Tour to Mackinaw City this year ......... maybe.

We've done traverse City 7 years in a row ... time for a change?
