  • Club Volunteers?

    Alright guys,

I am looking for a few good men to be judges for the Camaro Superfest, the event to be at for fbody lovers. What I need is for you guys to post if you are interested in taking a weekend off to judge the event. Please follow the following format for submissions. If all goes well that will be a nice chunk of change for our club. (Finally I will be able to pay for our club banner)!

    Thanks!

    Name:
How many years have you owned your fbody?
Would you be willing to dedicate a weekend to this?
What skills / knowledge would you make a great judge?

Sorry, guys, been in Mexico and access to the crack board has been erratic.

I might be down for this depending on my work travel schedule (aaannd I gotta fly this past the wife when I get home), but I would love to assist if everything falls in place.

I've will have owned my current F-body 17 years on April 1, but I've had at least one F-body for the last 21 years (holy shit I'm old).

I've followed the muscle car industry since I could walk (thanks to Dad and his '65 GTO that I grew up in), and can still remember being 18 and looking at a '69 Camaro RS/SS 396 that Dave's Corvette Sales in Lansing wanted $4500 and turning it down (not one of my smarter decisions). Sitting right next to it was a '69 Z28 with the original 302 that he wanted $6500 for.

I've done research for friends over the years on cars doing everything from decoding VINs, dataplates and RPO numbers, to physical inspections and driveability reviews for overseas buyers. Just helped ship a '69 Corvette to a new friend in Finland that was bought sight unseen (other than the 200 digital pics I provided) and worked as a liason for the buyer to the seller.

Long story short, I just love cars and the history behind them.

And my #1 passion for years has been the F-body.

If anyone has any questions, shoot me a PM and let's discuss, but I would be interested if the logistics work out.

I have owned my 1996 Firebird for 5 years, as of February.

I would be willing to dedicate a weekend to the Camaro Superfest.

I have judged one other car show back in 2004. I have a working visual knowledge of the 1st through 4th Gen F-Bodys. I also own a copy of the 67-02 Camaro White Book. IMO decoding a VIN # will be a necessity to determine if a rare model is real or fake. (Even though from the sounds of it the Camaro Superfest is not that strict.)

I was thinking along the same lines. I would like to have a few other club members representing at Superfest.

                    Ol' Rock N' Roller

Derek, and Ang, I think you both would do a great job. I do not think your age should be an issue. My 2 cents...
As I stated in the other thread, we supply a very good check list to work off of, and you stay with only one GENERATION of cars all weekend. So it should get easier to judge and know what to look for as the day goes on...

I encourge some of the young mebers to think about this opportunity. Some of you guys, like Matt O Doom, Derek, Ben, I have meet in the past and I have the highest repesct of your knowledge, and maturity.

Just this Ol' Rock N Roller's 2 cents...

                      Come on Guys!!!

This is practically a necessity for the Firebird Club.

They need 8 volunteers to judge this event. Amount of cash the Firebird Club will be getting for out services is invaluable. It will allow our club to do things that would have been impossible in our first year.

Please...Please...Please...Consider volunteering for this event. We will be able to park our Firebirds together next to the judges table. Does this say club promotion or what.

You never know we may even be able to get a few Camaro guys to buy Firebirds to, just so they could join us.

You will be judging based on cleanliness and overall condition. Myself and the other classifiers will put people into the correct class. You just have to judge them based on the judging sheets we will provide.

Now if you sign up you will be expected to be there SATURDAY & SUNDAY. DON'T sign up if you are UNSURE if you can be there. I don't need to be trying to find judges on Sat or Sun morning. I have too many other things to do.

I expect the judges to be Impartial, Mature, and PROFESSIONAL.

Don't mean to scare anyone off, just need to get it out there.

                        Thanks Gary
