The featured MIFC member for July is Brittany Riggs. She purchased her 1978 Redbird Edition Firebird Esprit in March of 2012. Her original intentions were to drive the Redbird till it died. Since then she has started to slowly restore the Redbird. Currently the Redbird has a 305 and rebuilt TH-400 transmission. Brittany plans on doing a frame off restoration eventually. The Redbird will be restored as a Redbird or custom Firebird with a purple and black theme.

Brittany enjoys driving and working on her Redbird. She does all of her own tune-ups and is not afraid to tackle the larger tasks. During the spring of 2014, 2nd gear went out. She purchased a B&M racing overhaul kit and shift kit. The transmission was dropped and she began to rebuild the transmission with the help of her grandfather and ex. The rebuild was a learning experience for everyone because none of them had any experience with transmissions. Even though it took some time, she only spent a little over $200 to rebuild the transmission. The ultimate test was her trip from Lansing to Ypsilanti for Camaro Superfest the next day after putting the Redbird back together. She was one of the MIFC judges at Camaro Superfest in 2013, 2014, and 2015.

Congratulations! And nice work on the trans...I'm not a fan of rebuilding those myself. If you can tackle that, there isn't much you can't do.
