• MIFC: June 2015 Update

Close enough to June to be the June update.

Overall the 2015 Mifbody Meet'n Greet was a pretty good turnout even though it rained. It was nice to meet a few of the MIFC members that I have not met yet before. Don't forget that the 2015 MIFC meet'n greet will be later this summer, Mike Sprang/Akodo will announce the date and details when he gets everything together.

The winner of the 2015 MIFC Sponsored trophy was Mike Cook with his gorgeous 89 Firebird. The car was their sons before he passed away in a motorcycle accident. Since then they customized the car with a Michigan State exterior and a Detroit Tigers interior.

I will making the Facebook group public to see if it helps with members activity and maybe get more interest into the club. If anyone disagrees with this, then just comment on this post.

Soon I will be asking for members to post a picture of their car and just give a little bit of information, so we can make a document of members cars. The document will make it easier for us to recognize members at car shows and get to meet you guys in person.

There will also be no more Firebird of the Month Competition. There will be a Feature Member of the Month. I will select a member, briefly interview them about their car, post a pic and details of their car on the facebook page and on Mifbody, and their car will be the cover photo for the month. The member will be selected based on activity within the group. If you want to be the featured member, please be active. I won't know who you are if you don't come to any events or post on Mifbody or our facebook page.

All the pics I took were before it rained. The rain did not scare off many people at all. I think most people that showed up was expecting it to rain.
My bad I just realized that I read your first post wrong. I thought that you said you missed the show not the car.

Was it you that came up to talk to me and I was called off to the tent or no? If so I am sorry about that. I forgot the members name.

I believe we do, but Akodo should be able to tell you for sure. I try to keep the facebook and mifbody members connected, but it is not easy. The facebook group is now public, so it should be easy for you guys to see what is going on over there.

Missy and I loved Mikes '89 Firebird, inside and out. We were lucky to get to talk with them. The story behind the car is even more impressive than the car.

I agree with you Bob, the story behind the car was extremely impressive and touching. They really deserved the trophy.

Here is a comment from Mike Sprang/Akodo on our facebook page.
"This is what we look for folks, people who take their car, and make it THEIRS, with a stunning back story to boot. A well deserved trophy, congratulations. Changes will also be coming for next years trophy, more to follow as we hammer out the details."

Comment from Mike Cook himself.
"Mike Cook Thank you to the Michigan Firebird club for the award. This car was built with the help of many volunteers and local businesses, If you would like to know more about the project and our non-profit, check out "lookleftlooktwice.org"."

That was not I.

As for missing cars...I had "assumed" that some left. If they were there and I missed them, well, that's just old age I guess!

Working on the car was better therapy than laying on a couch. It took nearly 3 years to complete, but I think we made something Josh would have loved. His favorite sports passions were anything Michigan State and The Detroit Tigers. This was our first time at the Meet and Greet, great show and refreshing atmosphere. Thanks again for the award and the comments.
