  • 2014 Camaro Superfest Judges-Recruiting Thread!

Hey folks, it's now time to start clearing your schedules and making plans to attend the 23rd Annual Camaro Superfest! Event details are below:

    22nd Annual Camaro Superfest 2013
    July 4-6th 2014
    Riverside Park
    Ypsilanti, MI

In the past, the judges have been invited to participate in the event on Friday evenings, and this year is no different. This year, we will be returning to the Michigan International Speedway to do some parade laps around the track, and your Firebird is more than welcome to attend! (You just have to park in the back with all the rest of the cool kids).

As far as the actual judging is concerned, here is our schedule:
    Saturday, July 5th, 2014:
    8:00am-Judges arrive
8:30am-Briefing with Nick Hudson and Barry Hensel-Judging procedures and Q&A
    9:00am-Judging Lanes Open
12:00pm-Judging Lanes Close for Lunch Break (Lunch is provided)
    1:00pm-Judging Lanes Reopen
    4:00pm-Judging Lanes Close

    Sunday, July 6th, 2013
    9:00am-Judging Lanes Open
    12:00pm-Judging Lanes Close
12:00pm-2:00pm-"Judges' Choice" Selection (usually done before 2pm, just allowing some breathing room)
2:00pm-MIFC Meeting/Dinner off-site (historically we choose a restaurant with A/C nearby. This meal is not provided by the Camaro Club or MIFC, you buy your own)

I'm looking forward to having another excellent group of judges to contribute to the ongoing success of Camaro Superfest, and the continuing friendship between the EMCC and MIFC. For more details, or to commit to participating BOTH DAYS, please send me a PM with your contact info.

Again, for those of you who may not have judged this event in the past, I'll explain a little bit about the show. First of all, the judging is VERY easy to do, this is not a Concourse event, vehicles are based on cleanliness and condition. Our judging worksheets are separated into categories, with points awarded based on condition, cleanliness, and overall appearance. You don't need to have extensive knowledge of F-Bodies to participate as a judge. Everyone I've worked with in the past (this is my 7th year working in the judging tent at CSF) has had a blast, and most of our judges have participated in the past. This means that if you've never judged an event in the past, you will be working with a group of experienced judges, who will gladly answer any questions you have and help you become acclimated to the process.

This year, we have been asked to take over the Classification Tent as well, so in addition to providing 10 judges, we will be providing 2 Classifiers, who must possess above-average knowledge of Camaros from 1967-2014. If you are interested in working in the Classification Tent, please contact me via PM. I believe I have 1 person who may be willing to bring an extensive knowledge of F-Bodies in general to the show, although I need to confirm with him still.

We have added ONE requirement of all judges this year, however: You MUST own and drive a Firebird/Formula/Trans Am to the event. We have had times in the past that not a SINGLE Firebird was present at Camaro Superfest to represent the MIFC. We are beginning to become more active, holding events of our own, and our club is represented at numerous other events throughout the year, so we would like to be well-represented here, as well. Exceptions to this rule will be made on a limited case-by-case basis, please contact me with questions.

The "fringe benefits" of participation include:
    -$100 cash
    -CSF Event T-Shirt
    -CSF Dash Plaque
-"Goodie Bag" with all kinds of promotional materials and other neat stuff
-Free admission to the show, and participation in the parade laps at MIS on Friday.
    -Lunch is provided on Saturday
-Breakfast will be provided on Saturday and Sunday (Probably donuts again), and Mike S. and I will provide cold water and other drinks for all judges.

In addition to all this, you get the opportunity to spend 2 days looking at some of the finest Camaros on the planet, speaking with owners and enthusiasts from around the world, and just having a great time in general. The weather is usually hot, sometimes dangerously so, and humid, but I can honestly say that I have always had a fantastic time, and I wouldn't miss this year's event for the world.

If anyone is "on the fence" about participating, please feel free to contact me on MIFBody via PM, on Facebook at the Michigan Firebird Club page, or via email at mifirebirdclub@gmail.com
