OK, Here we go!
I have recieved the list of current members of the Firebird club, and over the next couple of days I will be sending E-mails and PM's to all members to see who still WANTS to be a member, along with a few questions about what you want the club to be, what meets we want to attend, how far you are willing to drive for club events, that kind of thing.
This will also serve as the official recruitment thread! If you have any questions about the club, the direction I am planning to take it, or how to join, this is the place to ask them! If you want to join the club, send me a PM and I will add you to the list.
So what is the Michigan Firebird Club? Well, simply put, its a club for firebird owners and enthusiasts, whether it be the Firebird, the Formula, or the Trans Am. Ownership is NOT a requirement, we even have a lurker here who owns a "gasp" CAMARO! There might even be a Mustang owner or two in here. But thats OK.
Initially, as I understand it, the club was started to give us Bird Watchers our own place to meet up and help each other. I am the third sitting President, and hope to take the club to new heights. So what do we plan on doing? Our first major event will be in the spring, the MIFC Spring BBQ. Plans are still taking shape, including what venue it will be at, but this will be a chance for the group to get together, meet each other, go over club business, discuss what meets we want to attend, and to plan our second big event of next year, our very own car show in the fall!
I say second big event, but that doesn't mean we won't be meeting up at the Meet and Greet, Back to the Bricks, Woodward, etc throughout the summer. I am also looking at the Nationals, the James Dean festival in Indiana, and several other slightly more than local shows. And of course, we have our judging duties at Camarofest, and the NEOCC fall classic as well!
In other words, we plan to be ACTIVE. No more "MIFC is just a judging club"! This club was formed for a reason, and its time we started living up to that expectation. But I can't do it alone! It is going to require participation from the members as well! So lets pull together and make this club something we can be proud of. I know this late in the season, most of us are getting ready to put our toys away in a few weeks, but we may try to pull together a small meet up sometime in the next few weeks, we are looking into it.
Looking forward to a bright future, lets get this on the road!
