  • Changes Made to MIFC Leadership

    Hello friends,

I wanted to take a moment and notify everyone that as of last month I have stepped down from my position as club president. Nick Hudson (93FormulaLT1) has agreed to step up and take the reins. Nick now has full access to the Firebird club forums, club paraphenalia, and club resources.

I will still act in a support role for the club as every person counts! If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions I encourage everyone to contact Nick via email or PM.

I hope that with Nicks leadership and hopefully some renewed energy and recruiting efforts we may provide lots of cruise and show content in the near future. I know there are some exciting things in the works with a potential show near Bay City in October, although I am certain Nick will give us more information on that shortly.

I thank everyone who helped put the club together, everyone who worked alongside us at the Camaro Superfest, and Brian and all our wonderful site moderators who helped make it all happen.

    God Bless!

    -Ben Schall
    (Former MIFC President)

Sorry it's taken so long to post up here, it's been hectic at work. I don't have much time right now, getting ready to head there right now, but I wanted to post up a quick Thank You to Ben for posting this, and let everyone know that I am looking forward to getting a chance to meet everyone again!

That said, our original plan was to have a small show on a piece of land my family owns up in Montmorency County, but I think that would be a bit of a haul for the bulk of the members of MIFC, so we are trying for something in the Bay City area. If anyone knows of a place, please let me know (along with the owner's contact info, if possible) so I can make some calls and get approval to hold an event there.

If anyone would like to help out with the planning and setup for the event, please feel free to contact me via PM, I know I could use all the help I can get. There's plenty to do, too much for one person to handle.

The date, time, and location for the event is still up in the air. I'm trying to allow enough time to get everything set up ahead of time, but I don't want to push it too far back, because then we run the risk of the weather being uncooperative. I'm leaning towards the 2nd or 3rd weekend of October. Once we find our location and everything is set to go, I'll share details.

Again, thanks for all you've done, Ben, and I look forward to working with you to make this event go off without a hitch.
        Nick H.

Nick, you should PM Corey (TrickyTransAm) and solicit his help. He lives close to Bay City-Saginaw-Midland and has recently invited MiFBody folks up to the area for shows, so I think he has access to meet locations and might be willing to help you try to get things rebooted.

Thanks for the tip, I will send him a message! Hopefully we can get a couple of shows planned each year, and as much as I'd like to keep club membership free, we may have to charge a small annual fee to keep the shows going as well as to purchase promotional materials (business cards, flyers, banners, t shirts, etc.)

If anyone is interested in assisting with club business once I get things going again, please PLEASE contact me. There's plenty to do, and with my work schedule, it's hard for me to contact businesses during normal hours.

Ben, stay in contact, I know you had some great ideas that you'd like to see become reality, and there are some details I need to gather from you (member rosters, financial information, as well as to collect any other materials you still have in the event that you can't make it to the event next month)

                Thanks for the heads up!

Small update, we may be holding off on holding our own event, it would just be a logistical nightmare to pull things together this late in the game, between registration, finding a venue, arranging for food to be sold on site, music, etc., there's just too much to do on such short notice.

That said, I am working on partnering with an existing show, simply so we can get out there, get some exposure, meet each other, and have some fun at one of the last car shows of the season. Details will be shared as soon as I get the green light from the event organizer, I don't want to step on any toes, so I will refrain from posting details until our participation is finalized.

I'm not sure if that show is even going on anymore, they cancelled it due to weather last year, and I haven't heard anything about plans for another. I'll dig up some emails with the guy who was organizing the show last year, and see if it's going to happen this year or not.

If not, I'm sure we could get something going for this summer.

Nick I'd like to join the club and if I can help you out let me know.
I have been suprised that as i have researched the Back to the Bricks Show that the Firebird Club was not represented as a club. Clubs as you know have a special parking area and all cars in the club are grouped together. Since this event is a top event in the entire country I would think that the club would want to be represented in that show. Just a suggestion. i know it's too late for this year but you might want to consider it for next year. Thanks

We haven't had much participation over the past few years. We have just started ramping things up a bit to get more people involved, so we are working on that aspect of things. I will contact the event organizers of the BTTB's event to set up group parking for next year.
