Thats how I feel. One show I am greatly upset about it the Great Lakes Firebird Gathering: The Nesting of the Birds at Cabelas in Dundee. I keep thinking that the Firebird club should take a role in getting the show back together since it has not been done since 2007...

I am looking into a possible Fall Color Cruise for the MIFC at this time, that would be scheduled around mid-October.

I am not sure how we are going to do the 28th Street Metro Cruise this year, I don't think we have enough time to reserve the same spot across from Berger. We may want to join forces with the Pontiac Club and setup with them.
I definatly do not think we will be able to get the same grill thing back together, I had to use my Jeep to get everything to and from the location and i will not be able to have both of my vehicles out of storage this year.

Let me know what the plan for the grand Rapids cruise is I plan to come over for that and the Berger show, even though I have a bird. The fall color cruise sounds really neet.
On a side note: On of the reasons the mifbody site, and meet and greets are sucessfull in my opinion now is they are free. I was disappointed in the Gathering of the Birds show being cancelled, but at the same time I was put off by the $40.00 prereg. fee or the $50.00 fee at the entrance.
I know fully well it takes money to put on a nice show, but there are a lot of cruise in's and shows that are free to 10-15.00. A good example is the Camaro Fest, great show and events but only had probably 150 to 200 cars verses other years of 500 - 600.
I rambled enough but I feel a Camaro & Firebird combined group is best. Yes if MIFC does get going I will be a very willing participant.

Sounds to me like all the bird owners want the club but everyone is waiting on each other to make it happen...I think that the metro cruise could be a perfect time for a meeting/advertising...I could bring a portable gas grill...was also wondering how many people are still apart of and active...gilmores cost money but every wensday they have a cruise in there...just some food for thought

What about fair grounds??? Would it be possible to hold one in say Marshall paying little to nothing to hold the show there and then advertising the meet in auto and rv???

We do have decals. I just have not figured out how to effectively distribute them. I forgot to bring them to the meet and greet but if we can get a meeting together I will definitely have them then. The were done by a local decal place called Sign Language. I paid about $150 for them to be cut and they look great. I have silver, pewter, red, candy red, white, green, and teal. I'll have to get some pics up tomorrow with my phone.

We also have club T-shirts too!

Heck we've even got our own banners and signs. Just had a new one made with decals.

I was even looking at getting some lanyards or key chains made too.

              Dash Plaques... maybe

I really wanted to do some folding chairs...

We had a website and all. I actually have Jen working on a new one but she is not as expirienced as most.

              THats all NEW to me...
You need to get the word AROUND !!!........

To do this ,a cheap way " Business cards like mifbod " !!!!

Lets get the BIRD blood stirring guys !!!!!!!!

I do not think it is too late. I have actually never been able to reach the actual owner of the property. I have spoken with the store managers at the dollar store and the other store at that location and they had no problem with us being there as long as we did not interrupt their business or get rowdy.

The city officials are pleased to have us every time I call the lady organizing the event. Also we have had many police officers pass us by without a single word or sign of notice. I am sure that we will be fine to use the parking lot again. I would just recommend that we stick close to the street so that the parking closest the stores is open and we make sure to clean up after ourselves which I historically have stayed after to make sure the place looked good.

I just hope the motor homes don't take over our lot like last time we had 2 motor homes blocking the view of the street.

If BBQing is out of the question I can use club funds for some pizzas or something. A couple of Subway party platters would be good too.

I can order up some business cards this week.

I'd be there but I move up to school Aug. 24th and my Formula's getting garaged until spring.
Unless I can get different parking permits for when I want to switch cars. Wonder if they'd let me cover it in the parking lot.

                  Well good luck anyways Ben.

                  Used to own a Firebird.

Sorry to be asking an obvious question, but when is the 28th street cruise? Isn't it the week after Woodward? I didn't make it last year but would like to. The last couple weekends in August look OK for me.

However, I really think the 'birds should go to a couple of the big weekly cruises as a group, those are all over the place and usually they are free & fun. I'd suggest we hit one of the bigger ones on the west side (ideas anyone? i'm not from there.) For the east side, maybe Baker's? For those that have not done the regular weekly Sunday cruise it is spectacular, and many local car clubs show up and park together. Or we could do Jeff's favorite place, Boomer's, I went a couple weeks ago and it was cool, only problem is it's on Tuesday which would be really tough for the westsiders I imagine.

                        Just some thoughts.

I like that idea but it will be a challenge for sure. I think it would be great to have someone post up one event once a week and we see how many club members make it out. No big deal, if people feel like making the drive thats awesome otherwise its no biggie.

I think if we could get one small cruise event each week per eastside/ westiside where club members will be great in helping to get people motivated and get into a routine.

I would gladly do some local cruises on the east side, however it would be extremely difficult for me to make trips across state weekly. Once every two weeks would not be too bad though.

This is what I originally envisioned when I started the club and recruited club staff to host event when I cannot be there. By hosting all i mean is keeping track of people, taking some photos, and representing the club should you run across a bird enthusiast.
