  • EMCC loses another great member - Russ Sarns passes.

It is with great sadness that we report on the passing of long time EMCC member and Treasurer, Russ Sarns. He passed on Friday afternoon at home with his wife Judy beside him. Russ had skin cancer that went into his brain. See below for the announcement from his wife and the arrangements...

Russ... you are at peace and with our Lord... say HI to Doug for us all too!

    Dear Family and Friends,
It is with great sadness that I write this. Two and a half months after being diagnosed with inoperable skin cancer that had spread to the brain, Russ lost his courageous battle.
Russ passed away at 2:15 this afternoon after having a pronounced change in his breathing at 11:00 PM last night.
I was able to spend the whole 15 hours by his bedside - often holding his hand or rubbing his shoulders. I received many smiles from him and pats on my back. The passing was very peaceful and calm.
Russ and I both knew God was by our side throughout this whole journey. wrapping us up in his arms of Love.
We could feel the presence of 2 important Angels sent from God - Gabriel for all the Love we've felt these past 2 months and Michael for all the strength God gave both of us.
No one wants to see a loved one pass away, but it was a blessing to me that Russ was able to be at home and was not in very much pain. The Love we felt for each other will never end even though we are now on separate paths in this journey of Life.
David was able to spend a bit of time with his Dad during this last week and yesterday received a big strong hug from his Dad. Today, he arrived just 20 minutes after Russ passed away.
Thank you for all the outpourings of Love you've given to us. It has helped make this difficult ordeal a bit more bearable.

    Arrangements:
Fred Wood Funeral Home - 36100 5 Mile Rd, Livonia. north side of 5 Mile just east of Levan Rd. 734-464-8060
    Visitation - Sunday, Nov., 13 2:00 - 9:00
Service: Monday, Nov. 14 11:00 AM with visitation at 10:30 AM before the service.
You are all welcome to join us for a luncheon at 1 Under - 35780 Five Mile - just east of the funeral home directly following the service

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Angela Hospice Livonia or The Salvation Army

Burial will be at Acacia Park Cemetery later in the day for immediate family only.
