HI Guys and Gals...
Very sorry I have not been checking up on this forum lately....
First- yes, planning is going well!! We have an EMCC club meeting on Monday, May 18th and will make a few final decisions then, but here's what we're thinking....
** MIS is set! Leaving HQ hotel approx. 10am and once your pic on the track has been taken, you're free to go.
** Dinner Cruise route has to be planned out, but our destination appears to be a stop at NPD and then just down Michigan Ave in Canton. Near the Home Depot there, are 7 eateries within walking distance from where we will be parking - McDonald, Ruby Tuesday, Little Ceaser (carry out), Subway, KungPo House, Bob Evans, Wendy's. Across the street is a Tim Horton's and Burger King. We also will pass a KFC/TacoBell. Just a bit further are two coney island places. Our goal is to find someplace that had several places to eat, as going to a single establishment always brings problems - bad service and cold food! We would have perfered Depot Town, but the DDA Assoc. will not block off the street for us to park on. With upwards of 50-70 cars attending (we hope!!) we didn't think everyone would be interested in Depot Town, if you had to park at the park, or some of the regular back lots behind the main street buildings. Thus... they loose our business.
** the saturday night feature is going to be a great car movie... CARS!! Lots of action, great music and just an all around fun movie!
FYI- we really, really tried to get a copy of Transformers 2!! but, could not get an official copy and our movie guy could get into BIG trouble, if we tried to show a boot-legged version. And we probably would get into trouble too... not worth it. Sorry!
** still searching for a diecast Camaro for the event. Had a line on a yellow '69, but we already have 4 first gens in the collection and 2 of those are also yellow. Was hoping we could acquire enough 2010 Camaros in yellow, but not looking good at the moment.
OK... we do have a semi-major CONCERN happening on Saturday of our event!! Seems that we forgot, were not told, didn't realize... that Ypsilanti holds a 4th of July parade every year. Well, our event is ON the 4th of July... and the parade route comes up Huron St and right through Depot Town! That route is the way INTO the park! There is a south entrance off of Michigan Ave, but we believe that may also be inaccessable due to traffic re-routs and blockages, due to the parade. We're still checking with the Police as to what happens and when... but recent thoughts are that our gate will simply shutdown for about an hour, between 11:30am-12:30pm, until the parade passes.
Like I said this is a SEMI-major concern... but wisdom says that most participants are already here by that time... and on the plus side, everyone gets a parade to watch!
As to volunteers... THANKS again for anyone that did help last year! We greatly appriecate your helping out. However, with no judging lanes this year, our job roster has gone down a bit and with some new members since last year, we believe that EMCC members will be able to handle everything this year. Thanks for asking though...!
I'll repost the final decisions after our EMCC meeting... but these are what we're looking at for CSF!! It will be glorious.....! (please start praying for GREAT weather!)
