  • Camaro Superfest 2008 - status and help requested!!

Hello to the Michigan F-Body community. This posting is to bring you up to speed on our progress in planning a CSF-08. In case you didn't know, WMCC will not be a co-host club next year and beyond. EMCC now has full responsibility for the event and we're already hard at work making the initial event arrangements. We've polled our membership on it's commitment to keep the event going. While about 1/2 the membership responded to our membership letter, the vast majority do not want to see the event stopped and believe we have lots of years yet to enjoy. Granted, it means there is much more work for us to do. Our tentative dates are Friday-Sunday, July 4-5-6, 2008. And this is where YOU can help. While we feel a few more members will still step-up, we are falling just a little short of fully staffing the event. Thus we have an offer to make to ANY Camaro owner on this board. Free entry to CSF-08 in exchange for 4 hours of event work. (don't know if we can afford a free event t-shirt yet, that could be a future bonus) That is a Judged entry, so you can still try for an award and all other aspects of a regular event entry (goodie bag, door prizes, etc…). Yup, it's that simple.... As for work, we're talking directing truck/trailer parking; helping at Registration, event HQ, helping at the front gate.... nothing hard to do!! Now there is one condition... we are offering this to only the first 20 people to respond that would like to help us out. That is all we need. (and that's probably a few extra...)If you feel that CSF is an event worth saving, as we do, then you're our type of Camaro owner and we'd like you to join us in putting on another great event!! If you are interested in this offer, please post a response or email one of us very soon. We know LIFE happens and if you sign-up to help now, it is not a 100% thing, but if the response is good and many indicate that they are interested, we feel that indicates the response and commitment we'll see in 8 months.

EMCC is staying on the positive... we're already working on plans and some arrangements in anticipation of getting the staff levels we need. We'll post more on our event plans as they become more solid. Thanks for "listening"... hope to hear from YOU soon......Randy, EMCC President email- bicycledoctor@sbcglobal.net

As much as I don't want to be negative, having the event the first week of July is a bad idea.

        Sorry...I'll be quiet now...

We will still support in any way we can.

HI there.. Thanks Brain for being the first to accept our offer! As for the event being on the 4th of July weekend, this has worked for us, mostly. Yes, it does mean many people have family obligations on that weekend. While that can happen more often with a holiday weekend, it will also happen on any summer weekend. However, we switched to the 4th of July weekend in the 2nd year of CSF. The reasoning was that many others have nothing to do on a holiday weekend. Kids have moved out and away so for many, it's a free weekend. I've had a saying I like to pass on to those with the family plans... "there are many holidays and weekends to spend with family/friends... couldn't you spend this one with your Camaro family and friends?"
I hope to hear from more of you soon! Thanks!

Barry, while I can't speak for the other Firebird owners who did the judging last year, I know that I had a great time, and I'd be honored to do that again for you this year. Most of us said that at the end of the show last year, so I would definitely contact all of them if you can. It was a great show!

                Hi Mike,
I had already contacted Ben about judging again and he already volunteered you guys.THANKS.
We are looking for about 20 people to step up and volunteer for other things like , parking, registration, gate, trophy set-up, classification, etc.

Times are anytime during at least Sat and Sun. Friday is still be discussed to see IF we will be doing anything. Shifts will start @ 8am and if we get enough volunteers, they should only last 2-3 hours. Just need people to volunteer 1 shift both days or two shifts on 1 day.

I don't think Ang wants to judge again...could be wrong, but that was the last conversation we had.
