I feel all of the pre-event tasks could be performed by using minimal resources but I have serious doubts as to where 40 or so people are going to come from to cover parking, classifying, tallying judging sheets, setting up the show, putting out signs, gathering and stuffing Goodie bags, etc. These are necessary to put the show on. Who is going to sponsor the show? I can think of 1 sponsor that commited last year, that subsequently did not pay, another with direct ties to the WMCC, and one huge show sponsor that has made commitments to other National shows. Are they going to commit to continue sponsorship? Can the EMCC afford the upfront costs associated with tent rental, judges, Porto-Potties, T-Shirts, Programs, Transportation, etc? Jan and I feel very strongly that are not enough members to put this show on using two clubs let alone the EMCC by itself. Our vote is to discontinue CSF. However, if EMCC as a whole decides to go on with the show, it is our hope that the show is as successful as the last two shows were.

The short story is WMCC has decided to step away from CSF this year and EMCC is voting at their meeting if they want to run it by themselves or call it off entirely. Attendance has continually gone down in recent years and attempts to improve it (changing location, host hotel, etc) have not had any major effect on numbers. There have been a number of conflicting events that draw away from attendance as well. This year Pinks All Out was the same weekend and Ecklers had the 40th anniversary show at the GM Tech center that most people from out of state/country decided to go to instead of Superfest.

thats sad to hear that the wmcc is out - i was really impressed with the job they did last year along with the emcc. I heard that this year was going to tough due to scheduling around the 4th but it's really a shame that such a long standing event may be coming to an end.

WMCC feels that there is no way to top what has been done the last two years. Hats off to Tammy Loudon for getting her hands on the concept cars for those years!! Where do you go from there?? Its sad, yes, but there will be plenty of huge shows to go to and I for one, am hoping to make some of those other shows with all my WMCC family. We can relaxe and enjoy each others company!!

                  ,

Thanks Todd, for the compliments. Tammy, Jan and I were proud to have been apart of the CSF planning. Tammy made some awesome changes and Jan was behind the scenes making things happen. My hats off to both!
With the limited resources of volunteers, and they volunteering year in and year out, it gets old when there is not new people to help pitch in.
This was a business decision and we tried not to make it an emotional decision.
EMCC has a big decision to make on Monday and I will post what that is late Monday or early Tuesday.
ALL EMCC members on Mifbody should either let me know on a pm or reg email or phone call what they think if they can't make it to the meeting.

                  Thanks.

I admit I went to work today teary eyed after reading the email from Doug. I truely, truely wish I had more free time to be able to volunteer for this show. I can not even imagine what my summer is going to look like without CSF. Today was pretty depressing for me.

I know Brian. I feel like someone ran over my dog. The whole thing is just so out of the blue.

Can definitely agree there, too, I understand the reasoning. Just wish there was something more I could do with my time, I just can't devote anything because starting this semester (Fall 2007) I'll now be going to school year round.
