Here's what Brian had to share about his 1970 Chevelle SS...........
It's a 1970 LS-6 Chevelle Super Sport I bought as a basket case back in 2001. It has a very unique story before I bought it. This Chevelle was bought new from Denooyer Chevrolet in Kalamazoo, Mi. Four years later traded in for a new Corvette at Denooyer Chevrolet in Holland, Mi.
A friend of mine bought it off the used car lot for $1200 bucks. A friend if his was looking for a car. Before buying the car from Dennis, he asked him to take the 454 out because it was a gas hog and there was a gas crunch going on at the time, so he had Dennis put a 6 cyl. in the car and he took it home. Dennis kept the original engine stored away in his pole barn. Between 1974 and 1989, the car exchanged hands 3 times and was repainted once. Dennis finally bought the car back in 89 and proceeded to do a rotisserie restoration. He had the original drivetrain rebuilt and the car was repainted in 1992 but never assembled. It sat this way in his garage until I bought it in 2001.
It took me 3 years to finish the restoration. I took the Chevelle to it's first show in 2003. It was the Frankenmuth Autofest where it took a top 25 award. The following year at the same show, a guy named Bob Phelps from the eastside of the state bought my beloved LS-6. He picked it up in Dec. of 2003 and had it delivered to his winter home in Naples, Florida so he would have something Red to drive on Christmas day! So now you know the rest of the story!
What it looked like when I first brought it home!
