Well mods right now are just bolt-ons. But I'm getting serious this summer. I just have full exhaust and a trick flow intake, B&M Ripper shifter,LCA's, SFC's, all the free mods.. basically stock,lol. But since this OEM clutch is slipping all the way down the track, I figured I'd start there. The most I will do is heads, cams, dyno tune, headers. But you're right, for 299.00, even if it didnt hold up later down the road, who cares. For now it will be far sufficient for what I need. Thanks man, this helped tons. I was about to drop 500.00 at summit for a clutch! I've put clutches(and full tranny's) in front-wheel drive cars. this shouldn't be any worse than that right??

yeah you should be fine then. These are pretty easy if you have a trans jack. Make sure when you go to slide the trans off to pull down on the rod that is sticking out from the bell housing for the throwout bearing, if you dont it will bend it and you will have a hell of a time trying to pull out the trans. Also I found it easier to unbolt the trans from bell housing then bellhousing from the trans.

I have Competition Clutch model# 4134-2250. It drives like stock and is rated at 550hp (so about ~440-450rwhp being conservative with drivetrain loss). It also lists for $299 and I got mine for $240 from a dealer a couple years ago. Personally unless you were over 400rwhp I wouldn't bother getting a more aggressive clutch without trying that one first, it's too cheap to not give it a chance since you say you're replacing a stock clutch and just want something with a little more holding power.

I also have the 2250, it is great.

But as far as that part# I provided goes, that should be good right? They rate it up to 700ish torque. I won't be touching that. 500-550lb ft at the most, with close to that same HP.

Not sure what the DOM D stuff means but its made exactly for your 96 Z, they come with everything you need to do the install. Mine went it very smooth and after about 400 mi break in it is a very nice clutch.

man they have some real attractive prices. I'm liking that PT# 4134-2600 clutch for 339.00. Could someone explain to me what all that "DOM B facings" and Side SB stuff means. Would this clutch be a direct swap in my 96Z? thanks
