  • Built 4l60e w/ custom JW Ultra-Bell bellhousing & modified Yank billet converter

I bought this setup from a fellow member here many years ago. To the best of my knowledge, JW has never made Ultra-Bells for the 4l60/65/70e so he had a machine shop custom fit one. This setup can also be used with an LS motor with a crank spacer. Converter is a modified Yank SS3600 billet torque converter set up for spray, stalls 3600-4000 depending on application. The setup was built to handle a 430rwhp NA LT1 with a 200+ shot of spray. I was told there were 1k miles on the trans when I purchased, and I did not end up using it as I changed directions and went with a stick. I rode in the previous owner's car before purchase and the trans operated as expected with no signs of issues.

Here is the info from his for-sale ad when I bought it:

    Transmission:
    • Case is out of a 96 Trans am it has early model tailshft/VSS
    • JW Performance SFI ultra bell housing
    • GM 5 pinion front and rear planetaries (not cheap off brand ones)
    • 4l65e low roller clutch
    • Beast sunshell
    • All new GM solenoids and new wire harness
    • Late model (bearing type) reaction shaft
    • Raybestos clutches(extra ones fitted in)
    • New sun gear
    • Trans go HD-2c shift kit(slightly modified)
    • stiffer springs used
    • all new bushings throughout
    • it was thoroughly cleaned and prepped
    • all new seals throughout
    • Sonnax billet servo
    • wide band
    • Built by Tim Gietzen (built trans for a few other members here)

    Converter:
Yank SS3600 with BILLET front cover modified by Mike Ridings of Ridings Automatics.
Ridings upgraded the stator and used higher quality sonnax springs in the stator assembly. it was built for spray. expect it to stall from 3600-4000 depending on application. you can daily drive this converter if you wanted.. very tame until you get after it.

I'm asking $1800 for the whole setup which is what I paid for it. Prefer to sell together but will consider separating. Sold as-is. Trans can be picked up in La Salle, MI (near Monroe/Toledo), or will ship at the buyer's expense.
