  • Swapping a 350 into a 305 Powered Iroc over the weekend.

So its been a LONG time since I swapped in a motor.

We are dragging the race car to her uncles house in Grand Rapids to put in the motor he built. So from what I understand its a regular old carbureted 350 out of truck he just rebuilt and broke in. The problem is we started swapping motors at the race track and weather stopped us. So we got the original motor out. The next morning we had time to get the tranny off and pull the FI before the junk guy came to take the old blown motor. We forgot to get the accessories and engine mounts off.

So I have some questions. I have a water pump and bracket for alternator from another 350. I think that should work on his motor. I believe they are pretty universal?

Will my 700R4 have any problems mating up to the carbureted old 350?

I am going to a junk yard to get a fuel pickup for a carbureted car. Will I need to do change fuel hose?

Torque arm, any advice on handing that pain in the ass. I'm not even sure in our have tired and half inebriated state we have those bolts. I assume a junk yard will have those which I am going to today.

Anything else in the way of parts I should be thinking of while. We will be a ways form a junk yard and I'd love to get the engine in and test fired this weekend.
