Trying to save money

I have the new DD and its a cheap build to fix up and make nicer, the center caps off the stock wheels are hideously nasty, I thought maybe I could strip them down and paint them body color or silver. Is there a stripper out there that will not mess up the plastic?

I tried finding a set on ebay and craigslist but never came up with nothing. If someone finds a set or has a set they wanna part with or what not, please post..
