Ok, for those who've read our posts before we are continuing the 94 LT1 to 99 Firebird changover. We've been photographing and keeping track of our progress to show the readers here who've helped us in the past or those attempting the same... We'll update everyone once we get a the car rolling again.
The problem this time is the fuel tank and fuel pump in the 99 V6 fuel pump wiring doesn't match the 94 TA's harness at the fuel tank. The 94 has the simple three wire plug (gray, black and purple) which is the wiring harness we've used in the 99 shell. The 99 fuel pump leads have the same with a different plastic plug, but an additional wireing plug from the fuel pump as well.
We'd like to avoid dropping the 99 tank and replacing it with a 94 gas tank and fuel pump, (we do not have a 94 fuel tank), since it was crushed in the accident that totaled the 94 parts car.. So we have the fuel pump out of the 94 setting on the floor but it bolted into the 94 tank and supposedly will not bolt in the tank from the 99.
So our question for the readers is... What is the extra pig tail on the 99 fuel pump for -and can we simply re-use the the three wires that match from the 94 fuel pump with the 99 fuel pump and tank -splicing in the 94 fuel pump three wire plastic clip to the matching three wires of the 99 fuel pump?
Any advice appreciated!
Chevy,
