Pulled the motor and trans out today as im going to be rebuilding the motor. Once I got the bellousing off and clutch out, noticed the clutch disc is all melted and burned looking... Talking with pops he said he spoke a couple guys in the camaro club who said an M22 with 3.08's is going to be a clutch burning machine. The M22 has a 2.55 first gear where as my original Saginaw had a 2.87.
Should I just get a new rear with a higher gear? I really dont want to b/c I like the 3.08's on the highway, unless does anyone know of a specific clutch or clutch material I should look for in a disc to prevent that thing from burning up? I need one that fits a Gen 1 SBC between 10.4 - 11 inches? (Previous clutch was a 10.4 and current clutch I put in a few years back is a 10.4 but summit says is should be an 11 inch) with a 10 spline input shaft. Ideas?! Help?!
Thanks
