I never had to fight it per se, just never felt buttery smooth smooth with the shorter throw. With the longer throw it still felt very mechanical but just felt more natural and effortless to me. Even in my new car with stock clutch and a stock Hurst shifter and golf club it still feels notchy to me.

Mine only fights me when i try to shift fast. Otherwise, its buttery smooth. I'm never buying a full brass disc again even though the engagement is primo.

I rocked the stock shifter & ball for 8 or 9 years. Finally upgraded to the Pro5.0 with Lou's Short Stick about 6yrs ago. Stayed with the stock leather ball since I didn't like any other knobs. Most felt too small in my hand or not comfortable. Won a round white knob at the MIFbody show years ago and put that on. Still have it there.
