  • Pads for big brakes?

What pads are you guys using for big brakes?

Under 3600lb IROC, 14" Z06 rotor with CTS-V caliper. I don't want a bunch of dust but I want all around good performance. I do want to auto-x a couple times a year so organic pads are out. Also will not tolerate a loud/squeaky pad.

OEM AC Delco, Hawk HPS, StopTech, ECB, or find a nice ceramic for low dust?

Vette brakes and HPS pads here. Pretty dusty in my opinion.

Tagging along to see what others have had good luck with....

I heard GM went away from Akebono and then went back at some point, not sure of the time frame though. I read about CTS-V owners who would have to wash their wheels daily with OEM pads.

Mine are actually from a G8. Different compound?

i've got HP+ pads in my CTS-V Brembos now, i'm thinking about stepping it down to just HPSs now that i don't auto-X at all.

they've only got about 1000-1500k miles on them, if you're interested we could work something out.

Rock Auto says 89047725 for both CTS-V and G8 GXP

After some more reading, Ferodo seems to be the supplier for GM Brembo brake pads.

Any old pads will work for occasional autocross. The complete pad and rotor set for my Jetta was under $180 and is still my favorite set of any car I've driven.

Organic pads compress, melt, then smear the rotor. This ruins both the pad and the rotor.

I think I'll try the ACDelco 17D1050M Professional semi-metallic pads. At $40 it won't be too hard of a pill to swallow if I end up hating them. OEM pads are $115 or maybe a little more, and I need to cut back on the spending
