I don't know a whole lot about transmissions... but why would the use the out dated T-56 with the relatively new LS3. The LS3 in the new camaros uses a Tremec TR6060. Now I know the early C6 vettes used the LS2 motor right? Then switched over to the LS3 around 2007 maybe? I'm assuming that is also bolted to the Tremec TR6060. Anyone else confused as to why he was going to use the T-56???
mhm I dont know about that Fred but I do know a thirdgen that this would go perfectly in...
so im trying to figure out how you call the T56 outdated?

6060 is nothing like a t56
I to would like to know why he said t56 is outdated??.
probably because the 6060 is stronger, shifts better and should last longer.
BUTTTT.. 6060 is a pain to put in a 4th gen
Hey I said I don't know a lot about transmissions. Ease up
Here, I guess I need to justify my questions with more questions and my thought process...
Is the T-56 still being installed on new cars from the factory?
I assumed the TR6060 replaced the T-56 as GM's six speed for the LSX motors.
That's why I was asking those questions. My assumption was the last GM car to use the T-56 was probably the '06 GTO.
To me, if a transmission is replaced by another, it's out-dated.
My last question is, was the LS3 ever bolted to a T-56 from the factory, and on what car? I assumed the LS3 was always bolted to the TR6060

My son would like to trade the 1971 Pontiac Lemans GT-37 for an "LS" based engine and 6 speed trans.
