Thumbs down Toyota Trouble: The real cover up

In the last 3 years Toyota has had more recalls, defects, injuries and deaths because of faulty vehicles than GM, Ford and Chrysler's five year claims... combined! Actually... Toyota has had over 500,000 recalls in the last year alone. The leader being the over priced, and over rated Lexus.

Imagine if these statistics were the other way around, GM Ford or Chrysler.
This would be front page news, radio talk shows and water cooling bashing of North American auto workers. But with Toyota there is almost silence.
    Almost...

I did not see these statistics on the front page and I wonder why?
I am not saying that the Japanese auto industry controls our media..... then again... maybe I am?

There was excellent ABC media coverage and damaging information on Toyota products and the real problem killing people.

Very well put, I have always felt the media has created the market shift away from american made cars. Maybe GM, Ford, Chrysler asked for it in the 80's with some of their products. But let us remember the Jap crap rust bucks imported here as well.
I don't care who assembles it, if its a foreign manufacturer the profits goes back to mother land and company. The profit in turn buys up american resources.
    sorry

I agree 99% with you Larry. The only thing is see different (and I'm sure you see it too) is that at least its giving Americans jobs. True, the money is going back to the slant eyes over seas but it is allowing thousands of Americans to put food on their tables.

another thing thats going to hurt toyota and all the other japanese oem's is the currency imbalance between the JPY and USD.

right now its 86.356:1 and most japanese companys only prepared for it to drop to 90:1 at worst.

I wish they'd get the news out. Anyone know if there's a text based version instead of the video? I want to forward it around at work but no one will be able to watch the video.

what I have been trying to tell people

you explain my exact frustrations with the auto industy. If everyone only knew about toyota and were educated buyers the would not get one.

they need one of those videos like what the case against walmart to be shown in classrooms or something.

    Thanks!

Some other links of interest found on sayeducate. I heard of the Toyota pickup frames rusting (from MiFbody) but I haven't heard of the sludge issue or the rollover issue before.
