  • do you have to unbolt conveter

    from the flywheel before the tranny comes out or should it come out without unbolting the converter??

      yes have to unbolt
      00 ws6 vert a4 ( mods in garage )
      87 fullsize bronco ( 35 inch mud terrains )
      85 iroc ( lt1 and 6 speed )
      honda 450r
      honda 400ex gf's

        If you left the torque converter bolted up you'd have to somehow pull the transmission straight back to avoid damaging the input shaft... just unbolt it..

          yep just un bolt it, it should only be 3 or 4 bolts

            yeah just unbolt it, lol. thats the problem, cant get anything on there with enough torque or leverage to bust them loose

                    Three bolts, use a open end/box wrench hooked onto another wrench for leverage.

                      got it, trannys out. thanks guys, now just the long wait to have it rebuilt. it wasnt quite as easy as i expected, but im sure if i ever have to do it again it will come a bit smoother. thanks again to everyone who helped
