  • Exhaust Manifold/Header Gasket

For the guys who have headers: What brand of gasket do you guys use (Fel-Pro, Percy, etc, etc) I am think of using GM's stock intake manifold gasket since they have lasted 117k on my car. Any opinions?

I have fel-pro's with no problems however I have heard good things about using stock manifold gaskets. I did mine right though and dropped the coin on locker bolts, i never need to worry about mine backing out. Are you going to do headers will?

I'm not doing them personally, but I am doing some research, I don't want to have to go back and having to worry about gaskets blowing

I highly recommend getting locker bolts then. Mine were $60. Unfortunately, the company that makes them: breslin, recently went out of business. Im not sure if there is any other company that makes them. Ive had 0 problems with my headers though, i kept the emissions equipment too. im even still running my stock plug wires since elite screwed me out of the over-the-valve-cover set i bought. I thought i wouldve burned one immediately, but its been at the track in 95 degree weather unhurt.

                Mr. Gasket copper header gaskets.

I use headerbolts with stainless lock wires.

there was an old post here... i cant find it, but anyway people were complaining about their pacesetter headers flaking and rusting. Mine are still perfect, I think those people may have missed an important step in their installs: heat cycling them. After i got my pacesetters in I heat cycled them at least 7 times... just started the car let it warm, revved it and shut it back off until the headers were cold again. The first few times I did it i could definitely smell the coating baking. My coating is still in perfect shape and theyre soon to be a year old. Just wanted to throw that tip out there.

Most Of The Time I Dont Use Gaskets, Just Bolt Them Up Or Sometimes Use Copper Sealing High Temp, Just Very Little, I Have Never Had A Problem., Or Change Gasket Every Year Eather
