  • Best street/strip tires?

Well everyone I have a little problem...... I took my car out yesterday and it's not hooking up for shit. It spins the tires all the way through first and thats not even WOT. So I need some tires for getting some traction on the street but ones that are good for the strip also. This will be a dry weather only car. So what does everyone here run? I had a friend tell me Nitto DRs but I'd like to get some more opinions.

Drag radials are good but you won't get a lot of miles out of them.

Nitto 555R's or just the 555. The R's are a DR, I think they are rated for 15,000 miles.

Nittos are crap IMO, but I'm a Nitto hater and a big fan of MT radials. However, like Gary said you're not going to get a lot of miles out of them. If you're looking for something with good mileage I'd go with either Nittos or BFG's.

yeah its gonna happen with basically any car with a 383. they just have too much torque for any type of street tire

I am also a nitto hater. your gonna need to get wider wheels so you can fit a large tire under the back.

Alright here is the deal. Go with DR's for sure. NOW the Q is which to go with???

Nittos: are skinny and fit on a stock rim w/o a problem. They deffinetly get more traction than a street tire but dont hook as good as the mickeys or the bfg's. But the plus side is they last A lot longer then any other DR. and you can find them cheaper.

Mickeys: very sticky and streetable. Dont last as long as nittos but have better traction.

BFg's: very sticky and streetable. Dont hear much about them cause they are expensive.

anyone else have anything to add???

I think that your gonna have trouble with street traction with a large amount of torque, drag radials are gonna help a little bit but they don't work like they were intended to unless they are heated up first. If your that worried, like I said above, you need to get a wider wheel so that you can fit a 295 or bigger tire up under there if you want traction. On the strip the drag radial is going to help alot, and they don't need to be huge...there are guys running 8s and 9s on a 10.5 inch tire. Hope that helps.

Nittos are the best tire your gonna get miles out of (15K) I'd go with those for driving around and some MT DRs for the track

well right now i got some (i think) kelly charger cheapos, stock tire size 245, whats the biggest I can fit on the stocker rims in the back? And how much it cost to get rims widened? I think someone on here has had that done.......
