  • Overdrive Question

I just swapped a 95 lt1 with auto trans in my 95 v6 camaro. I have been driveing it for a few days now, today is the first time I drove it on the highway and used the cruise control. The question I have is when Im driveing 60mph it is at 2300rpm it sounds like it wants to kick lower but it doesnt. My v6 would kick down to 1800rpms at 60mph. Also when I was driveing 60mph when I take my foot off the gas it doesnt drop the gears (it revs at 1600rpms) or something it sounds like the exhaust is sucking air in. The v6 would coast alot better. both cars have under 60k miles on them. Fluid was just changed during swap. Im thinking that the person that had the lt1 before me might have installed a shift kit or something. Around town it shifts good coasts like it should but not over 35mph. If this sounds normal or what can someone tell me what could be going on with this,

    thanks

Couple things could be going on. Are you sure it's in 4th gear? Count the gear changes as you take off from a dead stop......you should actually feel 5 changes in RPM the last one being the lock-up converter.

I take it you got your other issues resolved? What was the problem?

Ya I found the plugs on the front harness control the power to the fuel injectors and I was only getting power to 4. So I had to wire the other 4 up to get power. But the trans problem I dont know whats the problem. I have been talking with someone and he said maybe it has high gears installed. He also said to go 50 mph in od then drop it to drive and it should rev up that will tell if your convetter is working it did work.
