  • Powertrain Control Module - Swap

Can the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) from a 1999 v6 3.8l be swaped with a 1996 PCM?

If it is possible what modifications are required to make it work?

Are there any step be step write-ups on this?

I would like to know because it seems that the 1996 PCM can not be tuned by the HP Tuner or the Hyperpac Tuner by Hypertech.

Thanks in advance for the help.

guess what, I have a solution for ya. No that 99 will not swap in because they had the electronic tb and you have the cable driven. With the 96 cars, the only pcm that will work for ya and you can tune is the 97 pcm's. Lucky for you I have a spare 97 PCM sitting in the garage if you want it. They are hard to come by and fetch a pretty penny from the 96 3.8l guys on boards so I always try to have a spare.

hmm, alright I would have to change the tune then to a manual tune. I have done it in the past for people, just need to run to zzperformance and get a usb to serial cable because my new laptop doesn't have a serial port any more. Then I can use my hp tuners again.

Ok, well when you get a chance let me know how much you want for it so that i can set some money aside for it.
