Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
Right now I wax my car with insillater wax. Its like a cream you wipe on and then take off. Its ok stuff but doesnt shine the it just beads the water real good and lastes awile.
I been hearing about zaino wax. Could someone explane what it is and how it works how to use it were to get it things like that.
im a huge fan of it and have used nothing but it. unforunately they just jacked their prices up, so im not too happy with them right now. If you have any specific questions i can answer them... unfortunately im too backed up on homework to give you a full how-to right now.
Zaino is a pretty good product, it's called a polish by the makers, but it's more of a paint protection sealant / wax than anything compared to other polishes. The site has pretty good information on how to really use it... a really rough how-to on how I've done it thus far...
1. Wash with dawn to not only wash dirt and crud off the car, but also dish washing liquid like Dawn is acidic or alkaline I can't remember which, but whichever one of those two that it is will eat through wax, so you'll have a clean 100% paint surface. Zaino works best when there's no other chemicals between the paint and the zaino products.
2. Claybar using Zaino's claybar and using the zaino car wash and/or their QD spray to lubricate under the claybar. Claying removes the hard-in debris from the paint such as tar, overspray, brake dust, etc. It will take a paint that otherwise feels like sandpaper and make it as smooth as glass.
3. You can either use Z2 or Z5, only mix up a small amount with the ZFX, when they say "a small amount goes a long way" they mean it! You should be able to do the entire car a couple times with one ounce of the Z2 or Z5 polish. Once you mix the right proportions (Zaino comes with instructions on all this, by the way) just shake the mixing vial up real good, let sit for 5 minutes, and then application is no different than wax except that you let the Zaino cure on the car for a half hour or more. I've heard some people let it sit on their car over night.
4. Use the Zaino QD Spray and mist the whole car down, wiping it dry as you go. This removes any left over residue from the Z2/Z5 that you just put on, plus it helps lock it in.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 as many times as you want.
Zaino Show Car Polish is NOT A WAX. It is not compatible with wax.
www.zainobros.com as I recall.
Read the Application instructions, as well as the Tips and Tricks section. Also to a web search for "Zaino" and read all the threads on messageboards like this which can provide more info, and advise what mistakes to avoid.
Zaino works best in blazing hot sun, so you can save up now and do this all come summer. Undr 50 degrees can take forever.
I suggest:
1. Clean car of dirt, debris, tar, bugs, gunk - start with Zaino carwash to emulsify crap first, then wash it of, then use harsher stuff if needed.
2. strip off old wax with Dawn (dishwashing detergent)
3. a. Claybar car, perfferably with zaino claybar.
b. clean/rinse.
c. Polish Lok, let dry (haze)
d. Apply Zaino Polish.
e. let dry, wipe clean in straight lines
4. apply added coats of Swirl Remover or Polish, thinnest coats work best.
5. in between each coat, spray on gloss enhancer for maximum wet look.
the parts of step 3 will take the most time, require the most patience. They can be done one section at a time, instead of trying the whoile car at once.
I have a vert, so I do sections like this: hood, trunk lid, nose, side doors, rearbumper, front quarters, rear quarters, wheels.
Once step 3 is done, the rest is easy.
topics numbered 1848 and 1903 here also apply.

I wasn't posting to provide you with argument, but to provide ROUDA with information he requested. If you are trying to confuse him, whatever - but I was trying for the opposite.
While we're agreeing to disagree, since you like you call it a polish and I never will call it that, your steps are slightly outdated, as Polish Lok was replaced with the ZFX flash additive.

Glad we are in agreement. He indicates he is not familiar with the product, and I didn't post the info for your consumption (although I don't mind if you read it). I don't recall which product is coded Z-whatever. I don't recall which is Z2, Z5, Z7, but I think Z17 is the claybar.
Therefore, I am describing what the bottles say on them. One says Swirl Remover, another Gloss Enhancer, another CarWash or somesuch. None of them say "sealant" unless it is in fine print, so in order to not confuse the people I would most like to help (the inquiring minds), I don't use that term, nor "polishing compound" because it is also not on the bottles, and Zaino does not offer a polishing compound product.
I also try to drive home with clarity that Zaino Show Car Polish is not a wax, not merely because of the fact that it is not, but more importantly because it is absolutely not compatible with wax, and I have seen many who do not get that point become frustrated. My goal is not to frustrate or confuse those who want clear information.
I am familiar with ZFX. During my last purchase, I bought Polish Lok, and was not told that it was not available, nor discontinued, nor replaced with ZFX. I continue to assume they are options, ZFX being the newer option to using Polish Lok. You may recommend whatever you want, I didn't see anybody else recommending either item.
I made the recommend that I chose to make. I did not err. I did not mistate. My recommendation stands as I intended it.
If Polish Lok is no longer available, I would be interested to hear this news.

Yep Jen's dad uses Mothers on his corvette. Nick can vouch for it. It shines like a mirror. I'm using Mcguires on my bird. I'll let you know what I come up with.
