View Full Version : Summer Meet And Greet, WESTSIDE

redfbird99
June 5th, 2008, 12:29 AM
Well now that this years spring meet and greet is done I have been talking with a few people and feel it would be fun to do another summer meet and greet on the west side. If we can get 32 people to caravan over to the east side surely we can put up a good show here. We acctually did this a couple years ago and NO eastsiders showed up, we had a good time anyway! (it was acctually my first time ever meeting anyone from this site.)

Here is the old thread for info, http://mifbody.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=4211&highlight=tunnel

I was thinking we should do almost the exact same thing again, Tunnel park is a very nice park, but location may have to change pending how many people are going to show, but it is a very fun cruise down the lakeshore, we could possibly even stop in Grand Haven.

Any thoughts suggestions or whatever? if everyone agrees we could probably do August 9 or 16 for the get together.

I'm game, but for a different schedule date. I've been saying I wish we did more M&Gs so we could get it down like a science to perfect it. Once a year makes it really hard.

Let's figure out a date and we'll need some volunteers to help me in setting up at the park. Or are we going to make it really really informal like just come and meet up no check in no awards?

mcg355
June 5th, 2008, 08:19 AM
Well you might have at least one eastsider show up! i couldnt make it to the offical m&g but im going to try my best to make this one.

I think we need an OFFICIAL thread to keep it all in one spot?
Do it like the M&G thread :)

redfbird99
June 5th, 2008, 11:40 AM
july 26th would work unless the telegraph cruise is something special or something? lol, let me know what date yall are thinking and ill start a formal rsvp thread.
Brian I was thinking we should keep this very informal, it will be more of a meet up than a full fledged car show, basically just another chance for everyone to sit back and have a good time, if families go, there is a nice beach a hundred yards away through the tunnel for the kids and wives to go sit on the beach and swim etc.. Last time, dennis called the grand haven pd and told them we were going through as not to cause havoc.

Once again lets figure out a date and ill post a new rsvp so people dont get confused with the old one, (Can someone close the old thread?) If i recall ty knows alot about the park because he lives right there so he may chime in here with details I forgot.

Yea, time to get on the phone and call the parks for rates and also to see if it is possible to close off a part of it for us.

I know last time we were in the corner of tunnel park and luckily just had enough parking, but it was so informal that we just showed up at the park and found a spot to park, it was busy though and the lot filled up with beach goers. So we would want to reserve an area just for us if we were to do it. We also cruised up lakeshore drive and went to craigs cruisers in spring lake to race go carts and mini golf. Great time

Yup, no excuses! Angie took her firebird literally the entire perimeter around the lower peninsula of Michigan a couple years ago when we went on one trip, and now we're getting ready to take another trip and you can bet your *** if Angie would let me drive Red Alert to Mackinac city, Island, and Sault St. Marie I'd do it in a heartbeat. :D

I would love to take Brian's car up to Mackinaw but I don't want him to have to put all that wear and bug guts on the car. So we are going to let all that happen to the Taurus! lol

I have taken the Firebird out to the east side several times and I love driving out there every time. And I would love to get a BIG group of people and drive out there like the guys from the west siders do.

Tunnel Park is nice but I'd go for a park not by the beach. Beach parks are always packed in the summer time. Just my two cents worth.

Blue_Thunder
June 10th, 2008, 12:48 PM
I second that. It will be much easier to get 20+ cars in a park that is not on the beach. Plus if its a windy day we wont have to worry about sand all over our rides. I will be there as long as nothing else happens to my camaro, knock on wood.

Sounds like a good time, count me in. Did I miss where the time we are meeting in
Muskegon/Spring Lake is posted.

Are you guys planning on mini-golf, go-carts, etc. Personally not interested, but what ever you want is fine, just would like to know.

I like Annie's idea of mingle and chill, that's what makes Dawgs fun, not a lot of snobbery going on. The car show stuff can be put aside, plenty of that going on everywhere anyway.

Who is going to call different parks to see if parking spots can be reserved.

http://www.mifbody.com/vbulletin/images/icons/icon6.gif July 26th Cruise Route
I put this on a different thread over the weekend before I saw the official forum/thread for the cruise, thought I would put it here for all to read.

This sounds like a good cruise.

Might I make a suggestion about the route down Lakeshore Dr. into Holland. We talked about this last night at Dawg's and most agreed with this: Cruise ALL THE WAY down Lakeshore Dr to Ottawa Beach Rd, head into Holland State Park(only a mile) turn around and head down Ottawa Beach Rd to next destination. Turning off Lakeshore Dr any sooner we'd miss some cool stretch of road. This a cool boulevard to cruise and would be a great way to top it off. Plus we would actually be covering ALL of Lakeshore Dr. I've done this hundreds of times(old stomping ground) and it one of the best drives in S.W. Mi.

Not trying to take over here, just seems like a good idea and all involved in conversation last night agreed.

I'm not really sure of the area, but if we cruised from whereever and ended up at the reception at the end of our cruise that would be cool. Stay a couple hours, then cruise to Gemmen's then Dawg's. I like that idea.

I'm still not caught up on the details, what time does it start and where are we meeting?

WE did stray from the original plan ,but Its not like THe OFFICIAL M & G in Kensington park (Detriot)....
Lets just have a GOOD time !!!!!!

Gemmen's is not a big deal ,kind of dead there anyway....

All I know is ,we better end up at DAWG'S in G.R. kinda
early if we want to park togther ,cause it packs up fast, and I particlarly don't want to park in thr " RICE " field !!

[Meet up at the Muskegon/ Spring Lake Craig's Cruisers on 1551 Pontaluna and US 31, meet @ 2pm till 5 pm.

Leave for cruise thru Grand Haven and Lake Shore Dr. @ 5pm.:lol::lol:

Three options for the end.
1. Hang out at Tony's (Pizza Man's)
2. Continue to cruise to Gemmens in Hudsonville, 6 to 8 pm.
3. Then continue on to Dawgs Dogs, 8 to ???

Those East Siders heading back Saturday night, can jump on I-696 to I-96 and head home, very easily from any one location.]

Here's what I suggest for those of us who want to fit the reception into the festivities:

1) After Craig's Cruisers, head to the reception 5:30-7 or so.
2) Cruise Lakeshore , skip Gemmen's.
3) Dog Dawg's is a must for me! I'll end up there from 9-ish til whenever...(2AM like last week?)

We need to have a goto person here i.e. someone to help keep things in line so people don't get confussed or lost.

I belive Tony started this so he should be the goto guy and have someone to help keep things in line for some kind of order.

If there is going to be a reception crew then some one need to be incharge of that and we need someone to head up the cruise part so there is someone to follow.

The agreed on end spot is Dawg Dogs right?

It's getting confusing and we need to keep some type of order.
Poll?

I agree with you Kyle so why not have Rusty organize the cruise portion. He seems to have a good plan in mind already.
