  • are aftermarket tail light rice?

im going for the blacked out look on the Z but i dont want to use tail light covers. so i was looking at the altez or whatever tail lights on ebay. theres 2 that im drawn to, the black and the carbonfiber. the reason the carbonfiber attracted me is because the previous owner had fake carbon put on the centers of the y2k vette wheels with Z/28 layes on top, it looks realy good. i guess my dilema is if i put the carbonfiber tails in it is that too much, or would it be ok?

Its your car, do what you want and make it unique, not similar to other camaros out there. If you think it looks nice on your car go for it.

Do what you like. I have the carbon fiber euros on mine, by TYC. I didn't like the way the lense looked when the light hit it, so I painted it.

My opinion it's rice, but I do what I do with my car, and you do what you do with yours..

You guys are lucky that the whole "rice" thing hasn't sparked too much on this site. I get so fed up with rice debates on LS1Tech and CamaroZ28 that I was tempted to set it up to automatically do a 24 hour ban on people that say rice IMO, use gaudy, not rice.

Nah, I could care less about what people say about my car. One person insinuated that my car was rice on LS1tech once, but then a few people (Including our very own DetroitMuscle, thanks Jeff ) stood up before I even saw the post. I've seen so many threads where it's a huge debate on whether or not X-aftermarket mod is rice or not, it really got old fast. IMO Rice is an aluminum wing, a fart can, stuff like that. As long as you're not doing stuff like that, it's just running the risk of gaudy. Dunno, just a pet peeve I guess, especially considering 99% of what people consider "rice" now is what used to be sweet back in the muscle car era.

That's why I haven't made my way to LS1Tech.com I'd have to hurt somebodies feelings and show them that what they think they know doesnot qualify as rice. There's a short list of things that makes a car/truck rice and not because there's aftermarket parts on it, not because it's an import that urks me to no end just calling bone stock cars rice!!!

I would go with the tint spray before aftermarket lights. They look to "Gaudy" on our cars.
