  • Alternative to Rockford Fosgates?

Hey guys. I was at best buy and heard this amp with these subs and really liked the sound. Nice low end but with crisp clear mids and highs...

What I want to know is, most car audio products are made by someone else. Is there a comparable product to this amp for a more affordable price than $599.99?

there are tons of amps out that there are comparable to rockford fosgate. there actually are tons that are much better for the price.... your best bet is looking on ebay for an amp. there is tons of brand new ones on there at cost instead of retail..... i personally run a memphis class d 1100 watt amp in my camaro and it cost me 350 bucks which would out power that rockford amp any day of the week for way less... some of the best amps i have found out there are the kicker amps tho.. they seem to be around the same price or a touch lower then the fosgate depending on the model

Hmmm. Interesting. I might have to do some peeking around Ebay with my stereo buddy and see what he comes up with. $350 is a lot better than $600! Anything I should be careful of though? Like buying used or certain brands being prone to problems?

personally i wouldnt; buy used amps. u just never know what all they have been used for and how hard the people beat on them.... subs u can kind of tell but amps are a totally different story... that memphis i got was used for 3 days before the guy got sponsored and memphis gave him all new stuff for free...

Ebay dealers are a good place to get them. I've gotten a lot of car audio stuff off there and no problems yet. Just have no warranty, but you pay like half of what you would at Best Buy or such. Just have to make sure it's a good seller.

              Not only are Rockford's expensive...

You need to baby that sucker for quite some time.
If you break an amp.. Most are easily fixable. Matter of fact a lot of times they need a new resistor soldered in. Something along those lines. Very easy to replace. Now you jump to Rockford's and they are nearly Impossible to fix because of the way they are built. Many shops will send you out the door and refuse to help.

                Meh go off your budget..

Personally, I wouldnt get the rockfords but thats just me..

It all depends on what you listen to and what your looking for out of a sub. Deep bass, crisp sounds, hard hitting but not losing any SQ.

Like Kammi said.. Kicker to me, has really good products.. Im running a 10" kicker to my stealth box and it hits real nice.

Do some more looking around you can DEF. get alot better sound system with just looking and doing some research

How about this one. 800 Watts 425 RMS 4 Channel for $285. What do you guys think? My subs are 800 Watts each, 400 Watts RMS. I won't blow anything up doing this will I?

Rockfords also get INCREDIBLY hot. I'm not talking warm, I am talking melt-things hot. You'd have to get some extra fans put on that beast...

Now...JL Audio and Kicker make badass amps. ADS made sweet shit too, but they went under (My dad's truck has a 6-channel ADS amps with ADS mids and tweeters, and 2 x Kicker 6" subs behind the seats).

If you have two subs, I'm assuming you'll bridge all four channels to power the subs (so the power is "split"), you'll be fine.

You don't really need a 4-channel amp, but whatever...

Don't take the sound of the demo unit as the final deciding factor. The sound they make in a wide open area and the sound they make inside your car is going to be completely different. Just watching out.
