Car won't start/run in Park

It's not an F-Body, but it's the DD.

It's a 1990 Ford Crown Vic with a 302 in it. And yes I know my main problem is that it's a Ford.

The car will not start in Park, however it will start in Neutral. When you start it in Neutral it will only run in Neutral, Overdrive, and Drive. If you put it in Park, Reverse, or 1st the car will shut off.

Any ideas on what the problem could be? Timing chain, the computer or maybe some sensor?

It is Fuel Injected (not sure if you could still get a carb on there 1990)

Ford did have problems with ignition switches. I had an 87 Taurus... the switch and wires were melted. I went to the dealer and they had a kit that included the switch and wire pigtail. Hmmmmm... that's suspicious.

Anyway, sounds like the ignition switch.

Would that switch being bad make it sound weird when the engine is running?
