I just a set of BFG gforce drag radial 275 40 17s...im going to milan 2marro I have a question how long should you burnout....go in the water box or not...i just need some tips....thanks

Keep the psi up, only drop it if you have trouble hooking up. I have 315/35-17 BFG's and all they need is a few spins in the water box to clean them off. The rubber is so soft, any more than a few spins and you're just wasting tire. I've used them 2 summers and a total of ~10 trips to the dragstrip and the occasional street take off, I figure they have 2 more summers maybe 3 if use is limited to track only.

I somewhat agree with scholtmj. Regular radials I agree to just spin 'em to clean 'em off. I've gotten my best times with a good 3-4 second burnout on Drag radials. The softer compound gets nice and sticky when hot. You also want to heat the tires up OUTSIDE the waterbox not IN it or you'll just be spraying water up into your wellwells and dripping water all the way up to the beams. Drive around the water then back into it (if the they let you). Sometimes they'll only let slick or ETStreet car IN the water. If alot of street tire people are not doing a long enough burnout and drag water up to the line they'll not let you into the box. As far as the tire pressure goes I would personally try 26-28 lbs. or so to start. One way to find your sweet spot is to do some quick burnouts with different pressures and look at the contact patchs or stripes. A nice even edge-to-edge stripe is what you're after. Thick black in the middle but faded towards the edge and you need less pressure. Thick black on the outside with faded or no black in the middle and you've let out too much. This also depends on how well the track is prepped too. Just my $.02 Good luck.
      A bunch of bolt-ons, heads/cam, LT's 9" rear, 4.30 gear. Best on Nittos 11.90 @ 120.4 w/ 1.89 60'
      SOLD.

Get your DR's somewhere from 17 to 22PSI, Go around the water box, Do a good 5 second burnout to get them nice and hot and let it rip

never go in the water box with threaded tires(front or rear). go around it and back up to it. light burnout to clean them off
