  • How's this sound??

    O.k. how's this sound?

I was at church last night talking to some of the guys and we got into cars and so on.
So I put my vibration problem out for some help and here is what came out of it:

I asked if they thought it could be my Pilot bearing in the crank and was told no because my problem is speed related nor RPM.

We ran through all the posibilitys, U-Joints, Driveshaft, Tires, Rims and so on.

What we came up with is that the only ORIGINIAL part still left in the car that hasn't been molested (yet) is the trany.
Since my problem is speed related at the same speed no mater the RPM the problem has to be from the trany back, hmmm?
So I did some diging with a big shovel

On some models of the M-6 trany there is a OutPut shaft sleeve that is in the very end of the trany extenson case.
If this sleeve gets worn out it will allow the shaft to move slightly and cause a vibration.
Sooo, I'm going to check this out.
If the driveshaft moves more than say .050 then the sleeve is worn out.
It's fairly simple to do and you don't have to remove the trany to do it.

    Any one have an opion?

I don't have experience with this personally, but it definitely sounds plausible.

I'm not much of a driveline person either but it sounds like a solid reason for my problem.
I'm going to get into it tonight and see what I come up with.
I try and call driveline places but all they want you to do is bring the car in and if I can do it my self the I would rather do that.

Got under it tonight and the driveshaft at the trany has at least .050 play in it if not more
D&R Drive Line said if that isn't tight she will vibrate and crack the trany housing

So I have to drop my Y-pipe, remove an exhaust cross member and pull the drive shaft.
Acording to the trany shop I talked to the bushing should be right be hind the seal, the trick is to get it out
I have an idea but it's going to take some creative work to make it happen.

Anyone have a lift I can use
